There he is!! Sitting by his own little window. Its like the spot was made just for him. :)

Me and Avery wishing everyone a Happy Holidays!!!

Still freezing

Video that my multi-talented friends made:

I love it!!!

I'm still frrrrrozen, but think I'd be adventurous and go grocery shopping later since the roads seem pretty clear. I'm also working on my COMPS exam a little bit. (Can't believe they're making us work on exams over the holidays. Isn't that unethical??)

Feeling pathetic

It is ONE degree out today. Thats -17 celsius!

Anyway I've been home all day because the winds are crazy strong and I'm still a little scared after yesterday's hazardous drive. My food supplies are pretty low, so hopefully the weather will clear up a bit by tomorrow and I can venture outside again.

I have... 2 gallons of water, an apple, pretzels, bagels and peanut butter, cookies, a ton of cereal, and fudge to live by if the electricity goes out. And my trusty little flashlight and mini first aid kit. So I'm all set. :)

Anyway, my friend is suggesting I get snow tires. I dunno leh. Where will I put my regular tires?? I'll have to ask my Canadian friends since they are always claiming Indiana weather is nothing compared to what they live through....

My package is here!!!!!

Yay! THANK YOU Sylvia for the cute little teddy, and Ian for the very nicely-written card. ;) Think I'll sit little bear on my dashboard.

Anyway, I am highly amused because the mailman wrote on the package "MAY I HAVE THE STAMPS? -MAILMAN". Lol! Guess he wants to add the Stork-Billed Kingfisher and Brown Discus from Singapore to his stamp collection. ;) I'll leave them out for him since he's so cute to ask!

Went to visit Chinese Church at Carmel today, which was really fun. It reminded me a lot of Sion Christian Church! The pastor's from Taiwan, and most of the other people were from Taiwan, HK, or China. 2 other Singaporeans, 1 Malaysian. The interpreter was really good - I was very impressed. But I had a pretty hazardous drive back because the wind was really strong, plus the rain was freezing up on the roads. My car kept getting blown off course even though I was traveling at a miserable speed of 40mph! And I skidded once, but thankfully was fine because there weren't any cars beside me and the car behind skidded at the exact same spot.

Pray for good weather on Tuesday when Johanna and I make the 11-hr drive to Oklahoma!

I'm famous!

Well, not yet.. but there's a picture of me in this month's ASHA Leader!Ok fine, you can hardly see me in the picture unless you squint and look really carefully. But its a start right. :)

Package from cousin-in-law hasn't arrived yet even though its been quite a while, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed its not lost somewhere!

I've just been doing absolutely NOTHING these two days. Getting lots of sleep, reading a book, watching videos.. and a friend invited me to a Christmas celebration at a chinese church in Indy so I will drive down later. Maybe get some last minute midnight Christmas shopping done too.

I survived!

So, icky yucky semester is finally overrrrrrr! I am exhausted. Have not slept well the last couple of nights, plus the overload of caffeine in my blood right now.. but, I'M DONE. My GPA is probably ruined forever by this semester, but its not for a lack of trying. Just gotta live with it. :P In the grand scheme of things, I doubt anyone is going to care that I don't have a perfect four-oh. I need to stop stressing myself out.

I'm glad I at least got my assistantship stuff settled for next semester. That's one big relief. Sadly, Puerto Rico trip is canceled because I have to go into work the week of Jan 5. On the bright side, I have credit with Delta now, which I plan to use towards either NYC, DC, or Boston before August next year because thats when the credit expires.

So right now, what I need to do is nurse myself back to health, physically and mentally. :P A severe ice storm is forecast for tonight, but so far the electricity is still on. *keeps fingers crossed*

My new ride!

Cool ornot. A gift from my dad and family, who love me and want me to be safe. :) Its a 2007 Nissan Versa hatchback, btw. I think its called Latio in Singapore.

It hasn't snowed in a couple of days, but winds are REALLY strong right now, which is scary because my windows sound like they're ready to fly off.

These couple of days have not been fun. Just studying studying studying all day long... *sigh*. School has been really depressing all semester because all I saw was adult clients. And 90% of them are depressed, which makes me depressed too. And during videofluoroscopy last week, we discovered what appeared to be a cancerous mass on this elderly man's larynx. OMG he looked so crushed I felt awful. Especially since he was the sweetest man ever and we chatted about playing golf and everything.

So yes, I need to get back to working with kids. I need patients who don't die on me.

2nd last day of school

This dumb semester is almost over!!!

Christmas spirit is in the air!!! Received a couple of nice gifts the last couple of days from clients' parents, which is very sweet. :))

I have sooooooooooo many plans for winter break!!!! I'm meeting Dan in downtown Chicago, then spending Christmas with Johanna's family in Oklahoma, then we'd be back in town for a day before heading off to Puerto Rico! CAN'T WAIT. Winter break is wayyyyyy too short.

So actually, the cold weather isn't too bad. Its very nice to cuddle up in front of the fire and drink hot chocolate. And I love winter decorations. And the snow is very pretty when its not annoying.

Next year I'd like to start scrapbooking so I should really take more pictures!!!

Frustrated

I am *extremely* frustrated with my life right now. Its like IMPOSSIBLE to fit all the things I have to do into my schedule, and of course my car would choose right now to break down. Between car hunting, studying for exams, clinic troubles, writing papers... I still have to worry about paying Spring and Summer tuition because I can't work for my assistantship because I'd be out of town. Which means I have to apply for scholarships, but WHERE WILL I FIND THE TIME?!!!!

I am so ready to be done with school and this year.

Gorgeous California

Had the BEST 4 days in California!!! The weather was unbelievably gorgeous the whole time I was there, and I had DA BEST asian food, including the best sushi I've ever had in my life!!! It was a really nice, cosy, authentic sushi bar, like the kind you see in Japan Hour. And we were at Universal Studios, which was really really cool. I have an annual pass (since it was only $1 more than the regular pass), so maybe I'll get to go back next year! :) Oh, and shopping in Santa Monica is soooooooooooooo awesome!!
Hung out with Amanda, Ian (his name is Ian Tan, just like my baby 2nd cousin!) and Kenny pretty much the whole time. It was great fun!!! Kenny is an aspiring filmmaker, but he's heading back to Singapore soon because the film industry is not doing so hot right now. BUT I hope he sticks with his dream and makes it big some day. Then I can brag that I know Kenny Wong, the big director, heheh.

I also talked with dear friend Dan on Friday, and he's doing really great in Maryland. I'm pretty keen on moving to the Maryland/DC area myself, because clearly thats the place to be if you want to be politically active. No I do not aspire to be a politician, but I do aspire to advocate more for special services and education, and the needs of culturally and linguistically diverse people. I guess I'll post another entry about this another time since its a pretty long story.

But anyway, my life fell apart again the second I arrived back in Indiana. When I arrived at the Indy airport at 1230am, my car wouldn't start, had to ask people to help me jumpstart it, didn't work, called friends frantically, called insurance company, called towtruck, waited for towtruck to arrive, rented car to drive back to W. Lafayette, finally arrived home at 4am in the morning, slept for 3 hours, then had to drive to school, spent all day at school, car company called to say car was fixed, so I had to drive back to Indy again to get car, paid $300, then drove back to W. Lafayette again. And of course it was snowing heavily the whole time. Driving in the snow is the scariest thing ever!!!!! I'm glad I made it back alive, because I passed by some 5 car accidents on I-65 on the way back home.

Needless to say its been a stressful 2 days. Also, while they were fixing my battery, they found a whole bunch of other problems with my car, which they said would cost some $1500 at least to fix. OMG~!!!!! So yeah, dunno what to do now. UGH!!!
