Chicago rocks!

And here's the proof:
Sushi bar on Michigan Ave

At Grant Park where Obama had his victory speech

Me and the president-elect outside Johnson Publishing! Also on Michigan Ave.

Midwesterners unite! Representing Purdue, Ohio University, and U of Wisconsin-Madison.
I've hardly gotten any sleep at all for the last 4 days because I've been crazy rushing to finish homework before Thanksgiving break. Have been driving A LOT too. This morning I drove an hour to visit preschool at Brownsburg, and tonight I'd have to make the midnight drive to the new Indianapolis airport to catch my 6am flight to Los Angeles, California!!!

Sleep is for wimps.

ASHA rocks!!!

I had DA BEST time in Chicago - met tons of wonderful people, learned so much, and am now so inspired. Seriously I think it was the best 5 days of my life. :))

And I also updated a picture of me and my new best friend! I am so blessed to have so many multi-talented friends, who have all inspired and encouraged me so much. :))))

Also, I'm working on my own little project for change. 2009 is going to be a GREAT YEAR.

Weekend~!

My stupid awful week is finally over! And I survived. Hooray for me.

Here's what cute little 4-year-old made for me last night:Yes, it looks nothing like an airplane but its the thought that counts right. :) Don't even ask me what those little pipe cleaner pieces are supposed to represent. Passengers maybe?

This coming week is THE WEEK. I'll be at the ASHA convention in Chicago from Tuesday-Saturday, which should be lots of fun. But I'm also slightly stressed because I have to deliver a 3-minute speech to the bigwigs of Speech-Pathology while they evaluate me. And network with the association leaders. Gee. On the bright side, I get to stay at the Chicago Hilton and attend convention for free. So yay. I'm looking forward to all the freebies too. :))

Other updates

After thinking about it for many many many days, I have finally decided on Rady Children's Hospital, San Diego for my hospital internship next summer!!!!!!!!! It was my original choice in the first place anyway and I'm sure it will be awesome. :)))) Cincinnati can wait for another time.

In case you can't already tell, I am in love with Obama. I'm reading his book - Dreams from my Father - now and its amazing. I identify with him a lot wrt the identity struggle that people raised in bilingual/bicultural environments face. I am eagerly anticipating what reforms he will bring, particularly to education, the economy, immigration, healthcare and foreign policy (in that order). Well, he can't possibly do a worse job than Bush right?

I really hope he comes back to Indiana or Illinois soon. I'll drive to anywhere in the tri-state area to see him. ;))

But right now... what I have to do is FOCUS and study for my two exams next week!!! PAH.

CPR certified!

6 hours and $50 later.. I'm now child and adult CPR/AED/First Aid certified!! Here's my little keychain with a plastic mask in it so I'm ready to perform CPR anytime.. ;)I highly recommend it to everyone, especially people who have family history of stroke and cardiac arrest like me!! Survival rate decreases by 10% for every minute that AED is not performed on a person with heart attack! Knowing how to help a choking child/adult is very important too. Never know when these skills will come in useful right?

Anyway, I'm having a pretty rough week. I am very stressed out and cannot wait for this dumb semester to be over. It seems like bad things always happen to me in the Fall semester, so I can't wait for Spring!!!! UGH. Weather also turned very chilly today, although no snow yet, which is good. On the bright side, gas is $1.90 today CAN YOU BELIEVE IT. Can't believe I was gasping over $2.99 gas only a month ago and now its a whole dollar lower. A far far cry from the $4.37 I had to pay in the summer!!

The Audacity of Hope

Its been a long day! I stayed up till 11:30 last night.. just long enough to be ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY sure Obama won. All the news stations were already declaring he was the winner even before the votes were counted! But after McCain conceded gracefully (admire him for that), I went to sleep happy. :)

It's not just one up for Blacks, but one up for all the minorities, myself included. Whether or not he will be able to deliver is to be seen, but at least there is HOPE.

And Indiana turned blue!!!!!!!! Whoppee doo dah! :)))))))

Went to Chumley's for dinner, which was right next to the Republican headquarters. There were all these returned yard signs in front of it, so Dianamari decided to steal a McCain-Palin one. Then of course we HAD to get an Obama one, so we drove to the Democratic headquarters on the next street but they didn't have any! (Or maybe other people got to them before we did). But then I saw some on my way home so I parked by the side of the street, checked to see no one was looking, then grabbed two of them and ran back to my car and drove home. And its now hanging by my window! :))))) I need a souvenir for this historic moment right??

Election Day

Election Day is finally here!

Glued onto CNN now... watching election results slowly rolling out. ;P

Lots of people campaigning on campus today. Someone also left a Obama doorhanger on my front door! I've left it there since I do support him. Even my 7-8 year old kids were talking about it today. They also "voted" for their favorite candidates, which was pretty funny. Two of them chose McCain and two for Obama.

Can't wait to find out who's going to be president!!!

Halloween '08

Halloween is too much fun!! I think its my favorite holiday together with Christmas and Thanksgiving.
Me in my self-made Mulan costume! And two kids dressed as pirates (too cute!) Me, Scott and Amanda had fun handing out candy. ;) I love seeing the little babies and kids all dressed up. The teenagers are not too cute though... Some of them looked distinctly sulky. But still gave them candy anyway. Oh well. I've heard that the kids can get a year's worth of candy on Halloween night!! LOL.

Coolest costumes:After trick-or-treating I went to Chumley's to meet my friends, which was really fun too, because then I got to see all the ADULTS dressed up. I saw this couple in matching Harry Potter robes, which looked really cool. So next year I'm going to get Gryffindor robes too I think. I can be Cho Chang!! Or a german bar maid. I'm thinking of costumes for next year already because they are all on sale now. Hurhur.
